Dear “gang,” as Ez used to say,
Thank you for your interest and patience as we’ve felt our way through the process of finding new homes for Ezra’s tools and machines – a process that took a course of its own after starting off here.
After years of watching Ez carefully and passionately set up and use his shop, it has been extremely sad, to say the least, to see it taken apart. But, with lots of help (especially from Sam and Rosko), parts of it are now being or are soon be used in the brilliant shops of Seth Rosko, Dale Lord (of Recycle-A-Bicycle and Crooked Hill Cycles, coming soon), Eric Monasterio (builder of beautiful custom racks and more), Jamie Swan, Benjamin, Harlem Built, Samuel D. Newman, Caldwell Sport, and others. Contents from the bike room, for those of you who knew of it, have also been spread far and wide, mostly via Recycle-A-Bicycle, and with help from Eric, Dale, Caroline Samponaro, and Todd Miller.
For anyone still interested in wood, metal, and bike stuff, please stay tuned. A good deal is gone or spoken for, but plenty remains, which we’ll try to post here soon. If you’ve written to Sam or me about particular items and haven’t heard back, please forgive and try again if you like. I’m sorry we aren’t better organized, but it’s a lot to keep track of.
For anyone interested in photo equipment, please see below for a list of items and prices (big thanks to Sam and Matthew for your help with this). If you have any questions or are ready to purchase, please email me at hillcaldwell@gmail.com. Arrangements for payment can be made in person or via Paypal. .
Thank you again to everyone who has helped (including Megan Ann, web-maven) and followed along.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Hillary

Dear Hillary,
My Ma is visiting me, here in Brooklyn, NY, for the first time since I moved here 4 years ago. I am so thankful that she is here. She is a cancer survivor and I find it more than somewhat serendipitous that I have been telling her stories about Ezra for the past couple of days, and now you are posting this as I am online showing her some of Ezra’s photography.
It took me a great deal of time for me to find the words for my previous message, to try to convey to you what an inspiration you and Ezra have been in my life. I am forever grateful for the hope and love that you shared with the world. Since I am not sure I can say it much better than I did before, here it is… in the case you missed it the first time.
Much Love.
Be well.
Angela

I was fortunate enough to finally meet Ezra at the Warsaw during the bike show. I live a few blocks away, and I had been following this page for a very long time. Ezra had a way of making me cry and laugh and love all in one post. My boyfriend and I made sure to attend the bike show. I was a ball of nerves before the show. I had hoped that both of you would be there. We arrived at the Warsaw and I paced the showroom waiting for Ezra’s booth to calm down. I finally walked up to him, introduced myself, and rambled on about how I read everything he writes, love his photos… blah blah blah… then I said, “Anyway… can I give you a hug?”
Ezra replied with, “You should have started with that!” and hugged me so tight I was afraid I would break him.
We chatted for a bit and then his booth got busy again and I said farewell.
I cried all the way home. I’m crying now as I write this. I even tend to tear up when I pass the Warsaw and think of that day… that hug.
Hillary, while all of us have followed and fallen for Ezra, we have also fallen for you. You are the LOVE that healed him in ways that no medicine could. I truly believe that. Thank you for reaching out to us. Thank you for sharing Ezra with us.
Sending you Love, Strength, and Well Wishes… always.
Be well.
Angela
ps: If you are willing to part with the table vice that Ezra is perched on in this photo, I would love to purchase it from you. I am starting a small jewelry business and I’ve been looking for a vice just like this one. I haven’t felt like making a trip to Home Depot… but I would certainly, happily, make the trip to pick up this piece. And I would proudly use it to hand-craft beautiful art in the Spirit of Ezra.
Oh Angela, you made me cry all over again. What a beautiful tribute.
Hi Hillary-
I started to cry as soon as I saw that photo on FB today- I have seen and enjoyed more than one version of Ezra shooting Ezra in the mirror. I have thought about you and Ezra and Putney many times since May and I hope that you are both doing well. I know that the holidays must be difficult for you.
I can still feel Ezra’s energy, and I can only hope that you can feel it surrounding you, too. His photo of snow in Harlem is the first thing I see when I enter my house. Many good wishes to you, Hillary, and as Ezra would say, BIG big love.
I miss Ez everyday and every time I see my “Fast Boy” tattoo I have to smile. I found a flyer for the Bike cult show this morning and then saw this post on facebook.
I’d love to have the 28mm in my collection. I was always a little bit too late for prints or didn’t have enough money for things like the pill flasks, which I thought were incredibly elegant for something so simple and beautiful.
Ezra always encouraged my photography and portraits. Honestly he was one of my biggest inspirations and supporters.
Nothing but love to you guys.
Hi Everyone. Thanks so very much for your interest and support. I’ve asked by email on a first come first serve basis for confirmations and shipping addresses. The first batch of shipments will go out today.
I realized that I should have stated this in the original post, but the prices were derived with help from camera savvy friends of Ez who are familiar with his stuff and via consultation with KEH’s used prices. Also, for those of you who don’t know or couldn’t tell, Ez was not exactly delicate with his things- he cherished them but used them well and without abandon. I really hope everything is still in good enough working order (I’m not camera savvy so was not always sure)- but, if you are unsatisfied with something you receive, please let me know.
If I don’t get confirmations from this round by the end of today, I’ll go to the next person in line.
Here’s what is still unspoken for:
Hasselblad Distagon 60mm f3.5
Nikkor AF 35mm f2D
Vivitar 28-210 mm F3.5-5.6
Epson Stylus Pro 3880 Printer
Epson Perfection V700 Scanner
NEC Multi Sync PA271W Monitor
Thanks and love,
Hillary
Angela.. at work now…checking old posts.. your post gave me tears in my eyes.
