Thursday update.

I went in this morning, and sure enough my white blood cell count was TOO low.

Alberto gave me some shots to administer at home over the weekend. We’ll try again on Tuesday.

Weeeee! vacation!

Back to the shop!

  1. So I don’t know enough; what does that white blood cell count mean? Is the chemo having more effect in that way than expected?

In any case, hope you enjoyed your day off!

  2. Liz- Yeah. The chemo is apparently having a very profound biological effect. That’s a good thing. As long as it doesn’t kill me.
    Bob- I’ll work on it!

  3. liz – chemo kills fast growing cells. wbc are in that category, but if your count is so low any virus, bacteria or bug can kill you because you have no immune response.

have a good day ezra – eat something that tastes awesome … the first time…

  4. I found your blog through flickr, where I found you through a contact. Low white cell counts. Yeah, they suck. I live with them every day, often at critically low levels. My guess is you’re injecting Neupogen or something similar.

Everyone reacts differently to it. First shot I had just about wiped me out and had me questioning my ability to give myself more. 38 hours of pain like a bone marrow biopsy, as the bone marrow churned out new cells, and I thought I was going to lose my mind. If that happened to you too, just know that it gets better. The body adjusts and learns to work with it. I hope you didn’t have that experience though. I hope you feel stronger, soon.
